Upton Thursday

Upton Thursday

Tim kicked off his day with his second run in a week on Volani ( Arnie) and he improved yet again on Barbury with a 29 dressage and a smart double clear.  He then had a bit of hang around to wait for his 100 ride, The Highlander (Ivar), hero of the Nexgen class at Barbury last weekend.  It was worth it though, capitalising on his success last Thursday Ivar smashed his first BE completion with a 28.3, a rail and a lovely clear cross country over Upton’s inviting track.

Jonelle had her Millstreet winner Fernhill Kankan out after her holiday and she was bright but good on the flat so a 32 was a little disappointing.  Fellow Millstreet companion Full Monty de Lacense (FM) was even brighter and probably deserved his 36 in fairness!  They both jumped smart double clears and, like their older mates the day before, were really happy to be out.

Last ride of the day for Jonelle was Faerie Deodoro (Milo Jnr or baby J depending on your preference) and a 33 on the flat followed by a single pole down showjumping is definitely progress in the right direction and then he backed it up with a clear cross country as well!  Looks like he’s just a slow burner after all, although all credit to Jonelle’s training as it has taken a while for the penny to drop.

A rare summer weekend off for Tim and Jonelle and in a heat wave to boot. Happy days!
