Riders, grooms and horses alike are loving the weather in Vejer de la Frontera and the team are happily settled in and spent this week hitting the competition rings for the first time since Pau (for Tim) and the slightly less glamorous Pontispool for Jonelle. Life for Scooby, as always, is hard when you have a mate like Otis!
Tim started on Tuesday as he has some young horses that jump at the beginning of the week and Jonelle had her first start on Friday with, quite rightly, Classic Moet. (Molly). Molly hasn’t jumped a round since her win at the British Open at Gatcombe Park in August but she and Jonelle simply nailed it with an awesome round that 3.5 week Abel was there to witness!
Only our very own superwoman could pull off a feat like that, although maybe I should change that to superwomen as Molly is pretty darn cool too. They have a unique partnership and the five advanced horses that followed her into the arena all benefitted from that confidence giving first round. Jonelle reported that McClaren (Mac) and Grovince de Reve ( Rev) were also very impressive and jumped clear rounds, Grappa Nera ( Grape) was very excited to be back out but kept a lid on it for a single fault and Curly Girl had a rail that, in Jonelle’s words, was actually possibly Tim’s fault! So less than 4 weeks after Abel was born and Jonelle goes and jumps 6 rounds on the Tour looking as professional as ever. Would we expect anything less?
