Today (Saturday 14th March) will be the last day of competition at Vejer de la Frontera as Spain ramps up its efforts to contain the Corona virus and so the crew will be heading home a week early.
Jonelle commented that the horses are jumping out of their skins and it’s no secret that it is disappointing. No one is underestimating the effect that the virus is having but the cost to the Global economy is going to be staggering. Full marks to those at Cheltenham racecourse who managed to run their entire 4 days to hugely appreciative crowds who also spent freely at the venue and in local pubs, hotels, bars and restaurants.
On the plus side they have had fabulous weather, escaped the rain and the mud and every single horse has improved and gained confidence from the superb arenas and professional course building. Not to mention some pretty nifty riding skills!
I hope they really enjoy their last day and it looks as though the sun is going to shone in the UK this coming week to welcome them home!
