Jonelle had a day of two very different halves whilst Tim had 4 very nice young horses that all went well. Curly Girl really has bonded with Tim in their short acquaintance and a 21 dressage was impressive. They then added a rail but superb dressage and fast cross country meant that they took the win which was a great result and makes a long journey up North much more fun! Viscount Viktor was running HC in a novice and really enjoyed his step down in trip for a 25 dressage and a double clear and was the perfect way to return back to competition after a couple of difficult tracks prior to Tokyo and a mini break. Tenz is making great strides and ticked off another 100 class with a 26 dressage, a rail and a clear and is picking up experience with every run.
Gurtera Jimmy Clover and Tim were also running in their last novice HC and finished up with a 25 and a double clear which bodes well for their step up to intermediate next time out and in a good day for Jimmy’s owners their young horse, Dromgurrihy Gold (Dara), went beautifully for Jonelle in only his second ever outing. Dara posted a 27 dressage and just picked up a few time cross country to finish 7th in his section and is really looking to be a class act. His stable mate, Faerie Deodoro (Milo Jnr) was also supposed to build on his debut outing at WWEC earlier in the week but as Jonelle commented, “he hasn’t come on much in the last 5 days” although to be fair he did knock a whopping 7 points off his dressage! Showjumping was a bit of a skittles affair where he picked up some 25 faults and that, coupled with the rain that had poured down all morning, meant Jonelle decided that adding another couple of inches to the already fairly demanding 100 track wasn’t going to go very well so a tactical withdrawal ensued.
A rare Sunday off and then the crew head for Wellington next weekend before a trip down to Devon for the UK’s only 5 star this year.
