Just the CIC classes left to showjump and cross country for Tim and it was a long spread out day even with three rides!
Spartaco del Usignolo ( Spartacus) started off the day nicely with a good showjumping round that tapped out a single rail for 4 faults. He then stormed round the cross country with a really great clear cross country in his biggest test to date, answering every question and picking up his qualification for Le Lon D’Angers 6 year old World Championship as well.
Rather unusually for the UK Somerford run the showjumping after the cross country for the CIC 2 star which again is valuable when you are using the run as a prep for a three day! Tim could have quite easily been 1st and 5th with Ringwood Sky Boy ( Ozzie) and Xavier Faer ( Hugo) but he has Burghley in mind so went cross country with 22 time on Ozzie and 11.6 on Hugo. That’s the grown up way to behave!
They then rewarded him at the end of a long day with two super clear showjumping rounds. It just goes to show that it is all about the preparation for the big ones and every single one of the 8 horses that Tim has ridden this weekend has gone simply brilliantly. Looks like fatherhood suits him! I am sure he will be hoping that the traffic on the M6 is not horrendous tonight as he makes his long journey home… and the Scotland beckons with Blair Castle coming up later in the week and that’s a proper drive!
