Rolex Kentucky Trot Up 30th April

Ringwood Sky Boy ( Ozzie) and Tim have jogged up well this morning and they are all set to showjump this afternoon. Jumping starts at 1pm USA time.

Tim gave a bit more clarity to yesterdays events as well. He said it was the hottest part of the day with really high humidity and Ozzie got pretty hot in the warm up. Micky Jung said the same thing about fisherRoccana and that it didnt give him a great feeling either! Tim’s planned inside line to the skinny brush into the water just didnt come up as Ozzie was not on the bridle and found the distance too long which is not normal for him. We have all seen Ozzie scramble leg by leg over a fence in the distant past, he simply does not quit even if it may have looked like the better option! Tim then had to decide what to do and he considered his options but went with a completion. He said that Ozzie fell at Badminton last Spring, Luhmuhlen was flat, they only went 7 minutes in Rio, they got held for a break half way round Burghley so he decided that it would be good for the future fitness for Ozzie to come home.

It was then a case of Tim’s ultimate horsemanship as he picked up the second 20 penalties by a deliberate crossing of his tracks at the penultimate when he was just looking for the best way to bring a tired horse home safely. It is testament to Tim that he put the horses welfare before his “record” and goes a long way to explaining the scorecard!
