Like ships in the night they passed! Well, they met briefly in the yard at 4.30am as Tim returned from Lignieres and Jonelle grabbed her competition gear out of the big truck and headed off to Little Downham in (generously loaned) Lucy Sangster’s three horse truck.
Whilst Tim has just one more event to go, Boekelo with Cekatinka, for which the horsebox will leave this evening, Jonelle still has a couple more one days before Pau 4 star at the end of October. Classic Moet ( Molly) was running advanced as her last run of 2017 and she made it a great one with a 33 dressage, just the rail out of the treble combination ( always Molly’s nemesis!) and then a lovely clear cross country. Molly will now go home to Brockenhurst Park with Faerie Magnifico ( George) who finished his season last week with a run at Osberton with Amanda Breiditis in the 4 year old championships. Jonelle said that Molly’s coat is just starting to turn so its perfect timing.
Cloud Dancer ( Marley) was much better behaved under saddle today for his second run of the year and easily won the OI dressage on a 27. He jumped double clear as well having decided that tigers clearly don’t live under showjumps after all. But having thoroughly mastered the art of taking his headcollar off over his ears and being unable to perfect this at home anymore as he is always cross tied he was delighted to find himself tied up to the truck and proceeded to refuse to stay there for more than a minute. He was then put in the truck but since he was OI and Molly and Boleybawn Fernhill ( Sky) were advanced he also refused to stay in the truck on his own. Mindful of the fact that it was also a borrowed truck Jonelle had no choice but to assign Marley his very own PA for the day and one lucky working student spent most of the day holding Marley who was dead proud of this diva performance! It was lucky that Jonelle had a surplus of helpers but Marley thinks this is most certainly the way forward!
Amanda Breiditis finished off her season with Sky by running her first advanced and she made it a successful one with a nice test, just a rail and a clear cross country. Sky will now also go on a well deserved holiday after also giving Amanda her first Young Rider Championship start back in the summer as well.
Just Oasby left to go for the one days now and Boekelo this week which looks to be like its going to be a soggy one if the forecast is correct. Luckily Cekatinka showed at Bramham and Blair that she is a happy mud runner!
