Plenty of time for Jonelle to hang out and watch the 6 year old class in the sunshine on Saturday morning and also support ex stable jockey Rebecca Howard who rode 2 six year olds clear under time. Then there was still time to watch some of the seven year old class before she finally got to head out on Hester.
As predicted Hester was more than up for the challenge and reveled in the uphill start followed by the brightly coloured and unusual array of cross country fences. It was also Hester’s first experience of proper crowds and whilst her eyes sure look to be on stalks it clearly didn’t affect her professionalism!
Clear under the time propelled the duo from 51st into 29th. It is still a way off the lead but with the new scoring system is is becoming more and more important to have a good showjumper… there is not a rail between the top 4 and then a single rail covers 5th to 19th! Rails are going to be expensive tomorrow so hopefully Hester will be on her best form.
