One of the added pressures of riding a horse like McClaren is the fact he is an amazing showjumper! Having breezed through the trot up this morning Mac was pretty happy to see some American sunshine this afternoon and he went into the main stadium and simply ate up the atmosphere. Some horses shrink in the big arenas.. Mac just loves it!
He and Jonelle gave a superb display of how to jump on the third day and I am not sure who was happiest at the end….. Mac or Jonelle! Owners David and Karrie Thomson were on the Kiss and Cry with NZ vet Christiana Ober and they were all smiling in the sunshine which was great to see. Mac and Jonelle climbed back up into the top 20 and deservedly so.
Mac climbed a few more places but more importantly has cemented his place as her no.1 for Jonelle to aim at the World Championships in September. What is it they say about the dress rehearsal not going to plan augering well for the main event? Well, watch this space!
Safe travels home Mac.. a lovely grassy paddock awaits you for your mini break and good job Jade Roberts all week with your exemplary care of Mac at Kentucky.
