Team Price had a quiet weekend by Price standards with just Tim and Pats Jester flying the flag at Gatcombe. It’s an event that is much like Marmite.. its a love it or hate it sort of thing and it takes a certain type of horse to love it. Tim was hoping that PJ would be a Gatcombe horse but you never really know until you get out there and try it!

70% ( 30) in the dressage was a good start but with 16k on offer there were some very smart and established horses there so that left PJ in 18th spot. The showjumping arena is possibly one of the toughest on the circuit with a sloping and undulating arena and a technical course. PJ tapped out fence 2 before finding his balance and then jumping a super round and moved himself up to 12th.

Tim headed out cross country in the afternoon with a determined look on his face and PJ simply ate up the challenges. Tim has made time round Gatcombe on both Vortex and Sporting Hero but PJ wasnt quite ready for that yet; a great clear where he answered every question and picked up just 9.2 time put him up into 7th spot and cemented his status as a proper 3 star horse after the blips he has suffered this spring. It was great to see PJ back fighting for a clear and also to see him do it so well… another couple of years and he will be joining the Gatcombe legends team!
