First into the arena on Thursday morning with the sun shining and perfect footing.  There was a a surprising amount of people already in the stands and Bango (Uno) really did look a picture with the sun picking up on his gleaming coat.  From the assured centre line entry to the last centre line halt Uno stayed soft and supple and listened to Tim and tried his hardest for without doubt the best test he has done at 5 star level.  He was rewarded with a 29.6 and it was good enough to hold the lead all morning and get Tim to the Press conference at the end of the day where he remained in the top 10.

The very last horse of the day was Xavier Faer (Hugo) and he also looked a picture.  Tim was riding him in the double bridle and it was a very grown up Hugo who went into the arena and looked like he owned it.  He didn’t even spook at a single pot plant which was pretty amazing!  The last two changes were late which was a shame as that kept his score out of the twenties but a 31.5 was still in well inside the top 10 and a satisfying end to the day.

Summer really does seem to have deserted us and its a cold wind that is blowing over Burghley this week.  Tomorrow I think sees a bit of rain and some less sun but we still don’t have any mud so that is always a positive!
