There was plenty of time for Tim to watch the thrills and spills of cross country day at Boekelo and there were plenty of them.  The early combination at 8 abc was without doubt the bogey fence and caught out more than its fair share and as always the first water was not an easy passage.  The forecast non stop rain held off but by the time that Tim went it was pretty heavy and the going, although better than expected, was hard work for the horses.

Fellow Kiwi team mates Dan Jocelyn, Blyth Tait and Sir Mark Todd had all jumped clear with some time so Tim could really go for it with three team scores in the bag.  He and Cekatinka were simply amazing and looked foot perfect all the way round the course with Tinka taking on her biggest challenge to date and loving every single minute of it!

The last combination was a brush on top of a mound with a downhill run to a big brush corner and allot of the later horses in particular had decided it was simply one effort too many at the end of the muddy slog round the track so Tim went long here and came in just 10 seconds over time to take the lead.  It was a wise decision and Tinka finished happy….if filthy!

With Sir Mark Todd in 6th, just three points behind him and Dan and Blyth both with clear jumping Team New Zealand finished the day with a 12 point lead over the Germans.  Thats a really good feeling!
