Tim left for the long trip up to Scotland on Thursday night with Kindred Spirit ( Joey) and Cekatinka on board. They are both jumping the CIC 3 star, Tinka in the ERM class.
Tim took Scooby the puppy and left Jonelle at home with Otis the baby..and he has his father Colin over as well. The weather upon arrival was typically Scottish with a mixture of sunshine and showers and as always its a green and lush background with the stunning hills and mountains in Scotland providing a spectacular setting.
Joey was first up on Friday afternoon and he decided that it would be fun to stick his tongue over the bit just as they rang the bell for him to enter the arena. Tim suspected as much, leant down to try and fix the problem but Joey as having none of that and time was running out so he had to do the test with it as it was! A mark of 62 reflected the problem and that was not really the start that Tim wanted after a 12 hour drive up from Marlborough!
Saturday morning dawned with plenty of sunshine which is good as the ground would seem to be on the soft side of good according to those finding the CCI 1 star cross country just tough enough. Tim is quite the fan of Tinka and she really is a trouper but she is new to this level of competition this year and sometimes her inexperience shows. She had a rocky start with a spook down the centre line at the camera and then tried hard to stay with Tim despite him describing her as being slightly “overwhelmed” when she came into the atmosphere! She isn’t the biggest and has little feet which undoubtedly would have been getting stuck in the boggy bits of the arena which were getting tackier by the horse. A score of 44.6 was a huge improvement on Barbury Castle and as Tim said in his interview, she is a great jumper and a bold and clever cross country horse so plenty to play for.
