Barbury CIC 3 ERM SJ and XC

Glorious sunshine and soaring temperatures made for another amazing day of sport at Barbury. Tim and Jonelle were part of the winning Hunt Scurry final against the jockeys yesterday lunchtime and their team, which also included Sir Mark Todd and Lissa Green, made light work of the challenge.  If their horses were oblivious to the calibre of the riders on their backs they were certainly aware of the fact they needed to gallop their socks off!

Today saw a tough showjumping track which is the hallmark of Di Boddy and with the time being tight as well it forced plenty into making errors.  Jonelle and Kindred Spirit ( Joey) went in with pace and a quiet determination but 6 rails and some time meant that was the end of Joey’s ERM class.  An ever resilient Jonelle donned her shorts and she and Tim gave the lunchtime speech to the St James Place corporate lunch tent before she rocked up to the ESNZ owners and sponsors lunch ready to support Tim’s cross country round.

Ascona M ( Ava) had jumped a simply brilliant round with just the planks falling at the last for 4 faults.  That left Tim in 7th spot and he executed a seriously cool and fast cross country round to pick up 14 time and stay in the top 10.  He couldn’t win it from that position and as always it was a masterclass in cross country riding.

Quite nice to see Upsillion winning as that is the father of Classic Moet’s 2 foals with their surrogate mares so there is still a link!
