Ballindenisk 24th September CCI 3 star WIN for Tim!

Ballindenisk 24th September CCI 3 star WIN for Tim!

Well without doubt it was the Tim Price and Pats Jester show this morning as PJ tipped the first fence in the showjumping and as Tim said then “guts it out” to get out of the mud and jump the rest of the round clear. Its  a massive team effort to win a CCI three star in the mud and the rain and everyone is not only delighted for Kate Maitland but, as always, a nod to the late Pat Maitland who saved the best homebred until last.  PJ is such a nice chap, he just ticks the boxes and doesn’t ever act the clown or the fool.. or even annoying!  He just does what Tim tells him too with a smile on his face and he might have been the surprise winner of a three star this year but he thoroughly deserves it!  Otis and Scooby have only been around a couple of weeks and they are already basking in the big wins!

Actually basking is not the right word to describe Ballindenisk at all!  Poor Providores ( Bruno) really took the brunt of it as tackling your first international in these conditions is not ideal! Tim ran him in the CIC 2 star but amassed some 31 time as he took him slowly and let him find his (webbed) feet.  One day in the future the experience of jumping round a 2 star in mud, rain and horrible going will stand Bruno in goos stead and its building that memory bank of experience that counts when you get to places like Burghley.

Faerie Dianimo ( Maggie May) is on the comeback trail from Rio with Pau 4 star in her and Jonelle’s sights.  Maggie May likes Pau, it sunny and warm and has surfaces and crowds and flags…and she clearly decided that if Ballindenisk was the only way to get to Pau then she also would dig deep and make it happen.  Jonelle set out cross country with no watch.. she wanted to ride a quick enough round to check they were both ready for a big one but not to burn Maggie May out in the process.  Sure, they could have won Ballindenisk but that is not the aim and Maggie May came home with 12 time to finish up in 4th which is pretty cool anyway for her first International one day since Rio! Go Maggie May and go Jonelle! One is returning from a 12 month competition lay off and one is doing her second International in a week with a month old baby!  They really are quite the pair!
