Tim and Ringwood Sky Boy ( Ozzie) had the Friday afternoon slot and they did us proud today as Ozzie held his demons at bay and did the best he could do to sit on just below 70% for a 30.1. That leaves him in equal 15th, just 10 marks off the pace.
10 marks sounds allot but in fact with Ollie Townend on a 19 and a 21 and then Tom McEwen on a 24 its not that far off the pace. Ozzie has an amazing record at Badminton ( as does Tim!) and cross country day is never a given. Ozzie never ceases to amaze me as those of us that know him of old are still dead impressed to look at the score board and see 8, 7.5, 7.5 for a flying change as we remember quite clearly the bolting days!
In the stables tonight Ozzie was bold enough to check out the girls supper that came down from the Kiwi tent and basically shoved his face into some amazing salad dish that our super amazing Beanie Davidson had made. He pulled me into his stable for more polos and genuinely seems delighted to be back at Badminton which, along with Burghley, is one of his “Happy Places”. We have high hopes of him and Uno tomorrow for sure.
It’s not going to be a dressage competition and lets hope we can break the Brit stranglehold on the leaderboard tomorrow. I have no doubt that we will.. it’s “kick on” time.
