Aachen Friday Dressage and Showjumping

Aachen Friday Dressage and Showjumping

The rain had cleared this morning leaving some clouds and a cool breeze and the dressage kicked off at 8.30 am with the individuals.  Jonelle was our first tam rider in and after a slightly nervous halt she and Killbunny Andy disagreed on the pace and whilst Jonelle wanted to trot out of the halt Andy cantered up the centre line and around the corner before settling into trot.  The half passes were a highlight but some mistakes including two late changes were enough in this field to score a 38 and leave a bitterly disappointed Jonelle firmly in the bottom half of the draw.

Jesse Campbell and Gambesie copped some harsh marks at times and Clarke Johnstone and Leopard’s Action survived a couple of ‘getting to know you’ blips before Tim went in as our no.4.  He and Falco gave a great display and apart from some tension in the walk nailed it for a 26.8 and a top 5 placing.

Some more course walking followed before the jumping began at 5.45.  Jonelle and Andy jumped some super fences but 2 rails and 1.2 time showed his greenness…he did a good job to remain as focused as he did in such overwhelming surroundings.  Jesse and Gambesie (Kevin) picked up a late pole, Clarke and Leo jumbled a great clear and then Tim and Falco did as expected with a super clear.  Thier one second over time cost them 2 whopping places but hey ho, Falco wastes that in the air and this not such a bad thing!

Tim sits in 4th individually and the team are in 5th but its cross country tomorrow and as we all know, plenty to play for!
